A great record by a group that made a lot of great records! This is the later, tighter version of the great Farmer/Golson Jazztet, and it\’s notable for the inclusion of Harold Mabern on piano and a young Grachan Moncur III on trombone. Mabern and Moncur contribute two of the best tracks – "Richie\’s Dilemma" and "Sonny\’s Back" – but the whole set is tightly swingin, and nicely steppin. Great mix of hard bop, soul jazz, and tight thoughtful arrangements!
