This release is part of an English import Songbook series. The idea is to get creative types (writers and artists and such) to compile music that has inspired them. In this case, the cartoonist Robert Crumb offers classic dance music from the 20s from his own extensive collection of vintage 78s. Included are tracks by such sadly forgotten greats as Paul Sprecht and his Orchestra, McHinney's Cotton Pickers, Ben Pollack and his Park Central Orchestra and many others. Besides the great music, the disc is beautifully packaged and illustrated by Crumb.
